In 2009, Emmaus, PA, will celebrate its 150th
anniversary as a borough; however, Sebastian Knauss donated property for the
congretional village in 1759 - that's 250 years!! In honor of Sebastian's
contributions to Emmaus and the USA, the board of the Knauss Homestead
Preservation Society has planned for a family reunion this coming summer. If
you are interested in attending or to receive more details, please email
Linda Knauss Burkhardt.

Are you a Knauss? Related to a Knauss? Interested in the
Knauss family? Did you know that we have our very own Knauss Homestead? It
was built in 1777 by Henry Knauss, son of Sebastian Henrich Knauss in Emmaus PA
on land donated by Sebastian Heinrich Knauss.
Sebastian Knauss is generally
recognized as the founder of Emmaus. If you are a Knauss, whether spelled; Knaus,
Knause, Knouss, Knous, Knouse, Kanous, Kanouse, Kenouse, Canouse, Naus, Nauss, Nous
or Nouse, chances are that you are directly related to Sebastian or his
Grandfather Lukas Knauss descending from Düdelsheim,
Germany.
Recently the Borough of Emmaus
declared the Knauss Homestead a Historical Site and has pledged financial support to help in the restoration
of our cherished ancestral home.
Check out some
of the ways in which you may also help in this effort.
